Distributed Energy Resources - Programmes
The Utility Regulation and Competition Office understands that there have been queries from interested stakeholders related to whether or not the current Distributed Energy Resource (DER) programme would be expanded.
As stated in the OfReg press release dated September 16, 2019, the imminent 20 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) will, among other benefits, create operating reserves for an additional 12MW of Distributed Renewable Energy Resources to be interconnected to the grid and, that the additional 12MW of capacity will allow OfReg to allocate capacity for continuation of the Distributed Energy Resource programme as well as approve new programmes.
More information will be available to the public as OfReg progresses with the allocation of the additional Distributed Renewable Energy Capacity in the best interest of all stakeholders.
